Isotype: IgG1

Rat gp49B is an Ig superfamily surface receptor expressed by neutrophilic granulocytes and monocytes. Unlike mouse gp49B, no expression was observed on resting NK cells and mast cells. Rat gp49B is an inhibitory receptor with three ITIM domains, and recruits the tyrosine phosphatases SHP-1 and SHP-2.

The main focus of this research group is to understand at the molecular and cellular levels how NK cells discriminate between these different target cells. This includes identification of NK cell receptors, signaling pathways and linked effector mechanisms, ligand molecules recognized by NK receptors as well as the mechanisms that lead to ligand expression.
